Common Name (s): Bala Shark, Tricolor Shark
    Scientific Name: Balantiocheilos melanopterus
    Family: Cyprinidae

    Temperature: 72-84 F (22-29 C)
    Temperament/Behavior: Peaceful, Schooling (5+)
Max Size: 16 inch (40 cm)
Min. Tank Size: 125 gallons (474 liters)
    Tank Region: All
    Gender Identification:
Compatibility: Other peaceful community fish, do not stock with fish that can fit into its mouth
    Experience Level: Beginner w/large tank

Info: Bala sharks are peaceful schooling fish but due to its size potential and requirement of having 5+ are only recommended for large tanks, at least 125 gallons/ 474 liters with a length of 72 inches/183 cm. Bala sharks like to swim throughout the tank investigating every nook and cranny looking for food and best be housed in planted tanks. Bala sharks are known to jump so a heavy lid is suggested.
