  • Hard water stains

I'm looking for some advice cleaning hard water stains from an empty tank. I want to get it cleaned up and in use tonight. I assume you guys will suggest Vinegar, any other suggestions?

Vinegar works well. I like to use lemons or limes. You can also use the juice instead of the actual lemon.

Baking soda and a toothbrush for those really nasty areas. But don't scrub too hard or you might end up with scratches.

I use vinegar mixed with warm water and a a washcloth that is scrubby enough to get the job done with out scratching the tank. If I can't get it off all the way, I just use the tank anyway. It'll come off eventually lol

I use baking soda+ vinegar = paste and smear it on the tank walls to remove the hard water stain.

As it turns out, I don't have any vinegar or baking soda. Didn't feeling going and getting any so I scrubbed as best i could and filled it.

lol good ole elbow grease and a green scrubbie has taken off any hard water stain I have come across. As long as you keep things wet it wont cause a big issue with scratches as far as I have found.
