  • Question: Feeding live food?

Hello I've just had a random thought whilst looking at a thread about brine shrimp.

My LFS has live brine shrimp and blood worms in little sealed packaged with water in and was wondering if my fish would enjoy some?

I've never fed live food and was also wondering

What if they all don't get eaten?
Do I just empty the packet in the tank?
Will the corys and plecs eat them too or will I still need to feed them their wafers?
Which is best shrimp or worms?
Will they breed if they go uneaten?
Will I need to turn my filter off?

Sorry for all the questions I thought it best to ask first

I have mostly Angels and tetras and 2 kribs and 2 RL Pleco's the Angels, Kribs & Tetras eat all the brine... I fed them some live brine today... honestly...it went just as fast as frozen...
It does not matter if you are right or wrong...

So just put the shrimp or worms straight in the tank?

Yup, straight in. I've learned to eyeball the amount of live brine shrimp i add based on experience and how fast they all get eaten. Your fish will love it. I doubt the plecos well get to them unless they stop moving on the bottom for a while though.

If you're feeding live worms, they have cones that you can feed them through to keep overfeeding to a minimum.

I will take a picture of them when I get back to see if it will be too much or not then the rest I guess will go in with the baby snails maybe they will provide a constant source of live food is that possible?

Do snails eat shrimp or bloodworms? I thought they were vegetarians.

I think snails are omnivores but wouldn't go after live food I don't think
