  • Tiretrack Eel feeding

I have a Tiretrack Eel that doesn't seem to be eating. I have a ton of cories that seem to be out competing him. I try to target feed but he just looks at the food.

I feed at night and hope he gets something. I've had him for about 3 weeks, I guess he must be eating something because he's not dead. Any Suggestions?

Eels can be a bit tricky to feed. Bury a frozen cube of bloodworms or something else enticing near the entrance to his cave an hour or so after the lights go off. He should find it. I don't know if he will do well in a tank with corries.

Yeah, I put some beef heart in. The corries swam over and buried their little faces in it before the Eel had a chance to do even think. I don't think he'd do any better in my 125. That's the only other tank I can put him in. I hope he makes it.

They can stick their little noses pretty deep into the sand. Try burying it deeper and later after the lights go off. Distracting the corries with food elsewhere in the tank may help.

Ok, I'll give that a try. Darn corries, lol.

I have a eel that I worry about all the time. I've burried blood worms but the bp just digs it out. I always drop a waffer when the lights go out. The ppl I got the tank from has had him for over 6 months and said they never really see him. Must be getting food some how he's still alive I see him every so often when I'm up super late or awake super early. Few nights ago I woke up super early and found him stuck in the nose of the skull decor. I had to break it for him to go out. Luckily he was fine.

I just had a great experiance with my Eel. He came out and let me target feed him. He wasn't scared or anything. Just came over and grabbed some brine shrimp from me. I'm really starting to like him now

A few feet give or take a couple inches

I think rogue might try to steal him though. I have to keep a lookout.

Dena, they can get up to three feet long.

Very cool eel! I'd like to have one but my tank is WAY too small!

He came out of hiding when I fed pellets today. I didn't see him eat any but I hope he did.
