    HITH-Hole In The Head

    I just been checking out different photo's and discussions... Sadly I think This Is... Any Idea's? I've never dealt with HITH before....I don't even understand how my fish could get it... live brine maybe?

      It looks like it. I just recently lost an angel from it. My angel's case was ruthlessly fast. Unfortunately I've rarely seen fish recover from it. I usually humanely euthanize them.

        Thanks, I think I got it kinda early so I put him ion a QT tank, I guess I have to call the Vet in the morning

          Start cranking the temps while you see what meds you can get ahold of. Hex is cause by a parasite, but it takes extreme temps to kill it off without meds. Once you decide on a treatment plan, do not mix high heat with antiparasitic meds.

                I would separate the affected fish. You are going to need high 90s to kill it with heat alone!! Definitely not something the loaches will tolerate.

                I had hex in a tank that had no additions for over a year. Where it comes from is confusing at best.

                  She is QT'd... loaches are being moved into my daughters tank tomorrow...catching them is alright...getting them off the glass s a complete different story

                            So far hanging in there.... the regiment is suppose to be up BUT I am going to do a 25% or more WC and continue treatment because I still see it, though the white is turning black on some so she is still not out of the clear, thank you for asking

                              Update:

                              So all the white spots that started protruding from her head has gone down... the white though has turned to black... Goldy is eating very well and seems to be adjusting to being in the QT tank though its been 11 days
