  • What to add?

So... having finally decided to return the tiger barbs and get a more peaceful/less restrictive stocked tank I'd love some suggestions.

    What I have so far:
    55 gallon
    LOTS of live plants
    Tahitian Moon Sand Substrate

20 Harlequin Rasboras (LOVE LOVE LOVE my recently doubled school )
    6 Panda Corys
    3 Green Corys
2 Otos (would like to pick up a few more to give them some buddies... possibly this Friday)
    1 BN Pleco

Tons of MTS (really need to get feeding under control... or become a supplier)
    4 Nerite Snails
3 Mystery Snails (these are somewhat temporary)

    What I was thinking of:

German Blue Ram or Golden Ram (1 or 2?)

That really was my only thought other than something that might want to feast on MTS lol. (haven't ruled out assasin snail, which of course would remove mystery and nerites before getting one)

I don't think I want another schooling fish as a "minimum school" just seems pathetic to me, meaning I just don't think 6 or whatever of something properly represents a "school" and I don't htink I have room for a larger school of something.
    Gingerone's Tanks:
    55 Gal: Harlequin Rasboras x 20 , Panda Cory x 6 , Green Cory x 3 , Oto x 2 , BN Pleco, 3 Mystery Snails, MTS and Nerite x 4
20 Gallon X-High: FW in process of becoming a Riparium
Future Proposed Stocking: 15 Coral Red Pencilfish (if my LFS can get them!)

Golds And GBR's are cool... BUT with your tank the EBR's will definitely showcase them!

Any ram would make a great addition; but as they stay near the bottom you may not see too much of them. Maybe a Bolivian Ram. They get larger and have great coloring and I love their personalities.

Another option would be to look for a single fish that swims in the top or middle layers. Not sure what to recommend as what comes to mind are cichlids and some have a bit of attitude.

The rams would look great in th etank but there right, they will stay towrads the bottom. If you wanted something else could always do an angelfish or a pair of them.

Yeah, rams are nice. I'd get more corries of each kind. Their personalities really shine in bigger groups. I have far too many for my own good lol.

Other fish wise you could consider Angels, Kribs, Hatchetfish, larger tetras, etc. Festivums are cool!

I bought them from Jim. And they arrived safe and sound and are acclimating so they can go into the tank before I go to bed. And if you are giving them away, I just might have to get a pair for my 75G tank. I love those guys.
