Tap water, as opposed to what? I used to have ghosties that bred in my 55. Unfortunately my fish ate them all

That's what I thought In that case I kept mine in tap water. But ghosties aren't very hard to breed anyway. My pH back then was probably around 7.8, KH 9 and GH 13.

Been keeping them in the hard, high pH well water here since 2002.

I kept them in tap water with IAL in the water and some driftwood. Didn't lower the pH much but it did soften the water some. I usually keep them in half and half ro/tap.

Just making sure we are on the same page here, when I was referring to Caridina shrimps I wasn't referring to Ghost Shrimps, but I was referring to CRS, OEBT, Tigers, etc...dwarf shrimps.

Yep. Same page. A few ad indium: large tanks, low stocking levels, insane amount of plants.

Re: Keeping Caridina Shrimps in Tap Water

Crs are most commonly kept in remineralized ro water. I use tap water, but my tds is only 40. I remineralize to get to 150. My fluval shrimp stratum keeps the ph at 6.8. They breed like crazy.
