  • Calculating water volume of a cylinder container

Since I am moving I am buying things for my bathroom... I fell in love with 2 cylinder "vases" that I could use to house shrimp... The plan is to house snowball shrimp and either move my blue jellies to it or get green or wild types... Anyways I forgot completely how to calculate the volume of a container... So it is 8" tall and the diameter is 6"... So someone that's good at math want to research me how to do this?

My math skills stink on stuff like that. When I have something that small, I just fill it with water to find out how much it holds.

I didn't want to fill it until I had time to get it planted and the shrimp ordered...

Until the math people come along - I have a water jug that is just over 8" tall and about 6" across and it says it has 3 qts, 5.2 oz. in it.

An online calculator says 3.92 quarts or just under a gallon of water

                You are right, radius x radius x 3.14 x height x 7.47 = .97 G
                I do everything in feet so- .25 x .25 x 3.14 x .66 x 7.47

DARNIT I'm too late!! pi*r^2*h it is. pi*r^2 is the area of a circle, multiplied by the height of the cylinder. It's just like finding the volume of a cube - find the area of one side, multiplied by the height.

You guys can't do math stuff without me!!

No no, I meant you're not allowed to because I need to be involved in all sciencey matters I didn't actually calculate it but your equation is correct.
