  • Discus Biotype

    Saw this picture this morning and thought you guys would appreciate it. It is an attempt on making a Discus biotype. Those are wild discus.

          Discus aren't found in streams with many plants. The Discus tanks we are used to seeing which are jungles are not good representations of their wild environment . (wow that sounded a lot like a nerd....)

            I knew they came from blackwater, but I thought there were reeds and some plants. Obviously I was wrong.

                  I'd guess it was Indian Almond or Maple, Matt.

                  Not completely wrong, only partially. Some streams do have more plants then others but generally speaking they don't have that many plants.

                        Great videos CJ! Note how large of a group they are in during the first couple seconds of the first video. That's why they are kept in groups of 6 or more.
