  • 55g build

I decided to get a 55g over the 40B. More room for fish to swim around. I got most what I need for it, just need gravel and a few small things.

    Stock will be:
    8-10 Dwarf Neon Rainbows
    5 SA Bumblebee catfish
    6-8 Juili Corydoras
    Rams or apistos
Maybe a pair of angels or gouarmis

    To much??

Tried updating the last post, but it wouldn't let it save.

The tank will be going on that 6' solid wood dresser. That dresser is not made from ply wood, it's solid. It wasnt easy to move from one wall to the other wall, even on its tiny wheels. Sorry for the mess, moving everything around.

Sorry for the lack off photos of the whole build. I was in a rush in filling it. Just need more plants.

You are off to a great start. Just don't rush things. And if you squeeze your sponges from your other tanks into the new tank you can quick cycle it in a week or less.

I'm using the filters from the two tanks I tore down. Sponges I did squeeze out in tank water but kept the AC50 running on a 15g tote for a few days and put the sponge and bio media from the AC70 into the tote to keep the bacteria alive. I do have the fish in the tank, they are eating and don't appear stressed. So far I think I have more then enough filtration on the tank with both the 70 and 50 both running on it.

With the cycled filters you should be ok, just keep an eye on them and ensure they keep eating and acting normally. I wouldnt add anything for a little bit still.

Everyone is eating and is active. Going to wait a few weeks before I add anymore fish. Going to try to find more rainbows, but they seem hard to find now

Picked up some fish, including a gold angel. All are eating and active.

I lost all but two neon rainbows, all swordtails and the Gold Angel. I waited a few days and added 5 larger rainbows, two three spot gouramis(gold and blue), and a twig catfish. These guys are happy and big piggies. I'm going to do a water change tomorrow after work.

Sadly i lost my dwarf rainbows. The other rainbows I have seem very healthy and are extremely active. I decided to move all of the Blank Neon Tetras to the 55, they did bleach themselves but colored up quickly and ate. Everyone is doing great and eat like lil piggies.

It’s been awhile since I updated this post. The tank sat dry for months. Last month I filled it back up again and got it running. Now I have fish it in again.
                          Stock list right now:
                          2 angels. 1 smoke and 1 koi
                          6 Black Neons
                          1 albino bristlenose pleco

                          The end stock would be
                          2 angels
                          16 Black Neons
8 panda and peppered corydoras (4 of each)
                          1 albino bristlenose pleco

Sounds like a decent tank, looking forward to seeing it all done.
