  • Rae's 29g

I figured I might as well make a journal for this one, though most of the changes on it have been long done.

This is a 29g Tetra Kit my boyfriend bought my for my birthday. We also got purple and black gravel and a bunch of decorations and such. The very first inhabitants were 4 black mollies and a rainbow shark. The mollies were given to a friend and the shark went back to the store, thankfully. Pig, my DG, also moved out to a friends house as he was just a jerk.

This was shortly after I switched to sand:

You can see little tiny baby Rasp on the back wall there, and some cherry barbs hiding in the fake vines I had to get because the rainbow was chasing them too much...thus why he's gone.

I very quickly got off the fake plant and decoration kick and went with live plants and a HUGE piece of drift wood for my cories to hide under as they're skittish:

The plants weren't doing as great as I wanted, so I upgraded the bulb to a t8, but still not a great solution. The ruffle sword moved to the 55g shortly after I started planting that one, as did one piece of nana.

Rasp, Benny my GBR and a couple cories:

Now if only I can figure out why all my otos decided to stop eating zucchini this morning and just sit on the glass when they had been going nuts over it before..

Maybe they are just full or maybe they just aren't in the mood for zucchini?

I have not been having luck with this tank lately, and I cannot figure out what's going on at all. Parameters are good, it doesn't get ferts, lights are on a timer, fish get fed the same as my other tanks.

I've got algae growing on the front and back glass panels of the tank pretty quickly.

I've lost 3 danios, 1 runty female cherry barb and at least one oto. I'm tearing the tank apart during tomorrows water change to check for more, because I had six and can only count four lately.

I did do a treatment of api's general cure when it looked like I had a problem with internal parasites (stringy feces, not eating right). Two doses like the box says over 4 days and then some carbon to remove the medication. My cories and my pleco look and act fine, though I have one very fat cory, it's just the rest of the fish that seem to be falling fast. I've still got 3 danios that are acting normal, and 4 cherries that are looking okay, plus Benny and four otos left that I can count.

I won't be restocking this tank until I figure out whats going on or everything dies out due to not finding out and I let it sit for a few weeks.
