  • 65G Angel Tank

I'm starting up new 65g to handle my extra angels in the 55g once they start pairing/getting cramped. It will be low light, play sand substrate and I will update stock and plants as I go.

I wasn't planning on starting this until basic aquascaping was in but a certain mod hounded me into it.

Here is my empty tank with my Daughter for scale:

Here's what it looks like this morning:

The first inhabitants!!! A beautiful pair of inlet/outlet tubes!!!!!!

I didn't really think you were serious but here's some, keep in mind I build my driftwood out of smaller pieces, thus all the small bits:

I was serious about pictures. It will help future tank owners who want to know how to prep driftwood to see the process

I do love the look of that piece

Thanks Sean, she comes from good stock.

Good point AP. The piece in the pot is the "stump" and I'll be mitering branches to fit on the sawed off portions

Very nice pieces of wood! Why boil grapevine wood? I didn't boil mine and it barely leaked any tannins lol.

Thanks Jon. I do it because I despise dirty looking water and If I assembled the whole piece and it happened to leak tannins I would be unable to boil it at that point. Also, its get's rid of hitchhikers and helps me look for rotten spots. If either mulchy looking stuff or grubs float to the top I know I need to prod around and find the bad spot.

Just curious, how are you putting the pieces of driftwood together? Silicone?

Good luck with the tank. Can't wait to see more pictures!

Mine releases a TON when boiling, it hasn't stained any of my tanks but if I put tank water in a white bucket I can see it has this tint of yellow to it.

I kind of file and shave the two surfaces to fit, drill pilot holes in each, drive a stainless steel screw into one piece, cut the head off of the screw and thread the branch on, Tada!
