  • 10g betta imbellis biotope

I will be getting the bettas in late march early April but I started this 'top in November (planning stage) but actually set it up November 27th! Its current stock is 1 CT betta (will be moved into a different 5g once the other bettas arrive) 1 blue mystery snail who had a horrible fall and Brock a small portion of her shell, 10 baby trapdoor snails (the trapdoors are moving to a pond this spring) and a few shrimp which will move to a seperate tank as well...

Plant wise I have rotala, ludwigia, pennywort, Java fern, anubias eye, and anchoris...

4 months later the growth has still shocked me... I am going to pull the plants after the move and rescape the tank so the plants are more spread out and not growing in, basically, a floating ball lol...

Looks great so far. You should look into getting some really small grapevine pieces and making piece that looks like a root system and then add some leaf litter to the bottom. That will really replicate their natural biotype.

Any idea where to buy grapevine? I wouldn't know where to look for any...

And I have Indian almond leaves so leaf little is no problem... I actually need to add a couple more in because the snails finally ate the 2 I had in there...

I think CJ and Matt were talking about finding it at Home Depot. I have my own supply so I don't have to buy it lol.

Just found the thread. It's Matt's 65g tank thread. Last page I think.

LOL It shouldn't, I posted about it a while ago: http://www.everythingaquatic.net/for...y-of-Grapevine!

yes ma'am they are freshwater! The males are able to be kept together with little to no fighting at all (also known as the peaceful betta) My plan is to have 2 males and 4 females in this tank... if anything goes wrong I do have a plan B for one of the trios...

I'm planning on purchasing betta mahachai, which are brackish. They can be kept in groups as well

And who are you calling "ma'am"?

Okay last night I escaped Mavricks tank (finally remembered what i wanted to call my betta lol) it took me a little while because i pulled each piece of rotala apart and planted the new stems seperatly! Gives it more of a rice patty feel... I hope that in a month or two I can pull them all again and do it again and have it even more densly planted... lol at the rate its growing though I can start triming the plants to feed my turtle :-)
