                Re: Nano Reef

Thanks! None of the corals are looking great except the star polyps right now. I want to stock mostly soft corals (zoanthids, palythoas, xenia, etc) and then have one or two fish. I might get a pair of Clowns. I haven't decided what kind yet haha. I also want to get a certain kind of Crab which I've always wanted. It's called a PomPom Crab lol. It carries two little anemones in its claws lol.

My star polyp opened up for the first time today.

                  Re: Nano Reef

Cool picture! You can really tell why they are known as star polyps. Hopefully your corals begin to do well.

20G huh? I'd always heard 30G minimum for saltwater. Guess I was misinformed.

                    Re: Nano Reef

Yep. They grow in huge carpets. They're also called grass corals because when all of the polyps open the pink can't be seen (apparently). I have yet to see that happen.

Yeah. I started with a 5g that did really really well until I tried to upgrade it to a 40g breeder. That's when everything went down hill and has been going that direction since. Hopefully my change to a smaller tank and bigger filter will help.

LOL That's actually not a palythoa in good condition. My tank would be gorgeous if the corals actually opened up. Here's what a purple proto-paly is supposed to look like:
